Al termine del corso gli studenti si saranno fatti un'idea delle origini e dell'evoluzione della tradizione linguistica araba, dei temi più rilevanti sui cui si è esercitata la riflessione degli studiosi in ambito grammaticale e linguistico e della relativa terminologia tecnica. Gli studenti potranno inoltre raffinare le proprie competenze linguistiche affrontando la traduzione di un testo medievale.
La prova orale consiste in un colloquio durante il quale al candidato è richiesto di discutere di uno o più argomenti del corso a partire dal commento di un brano tratto dalla Muqaddimah d’Ibn Ḫaldūn. La valutazione terrà conto anche della partecipazione dello studente ad attività quali traduzioni, letture, discussioni, seminari e incontri, ecc.
By the end of the course, students will get an idea about the origins and the development of the Arabic linguistic tradition, the main topics included in scholars’ speculation on grammar and linguistics, and the technical vocabulary relevant to them. Students will also improve their language skills by dealing with the translation of a medieval text.
The oral test is based on an interview during which the student is asked to discuss one or more topics of the course starting from the comment to an excerpt from Ibn Ḫaldūn’s Muqaddimah. The assessment will also consider the student's involvement in some activities, such as translations, readings, discussions, seminars and meetings, etc.
