Per partecipare in modo efficace alle lezioni è necessario che ogni studente abbia già una conoscenza di base della storia della Cina dal XVIII al XXI secolo. Chi ne è privo, provvederà a compensare questa lacuna prima dell'inizio delle lezioni, con lo studio del seguente testo:

Obiettivi formativi
L'insegnamento mira ad approfondire la conoscenza dello/a studente sulle relazioni tra potere politico e libertà di religione nella Cina tardo imperiale e contemporanea. Questa conoscenza ha come obiettivo quello di rendere lo studente capace di valutare criticamente il rispetto dei diritti umani fondamentali e la lettura che di essa viene dati in contesti politici diversi.
Le lezioni in forma seminariale consentiranno di verificare le abilità comunicative di ciascuna/o studente, aiutandola/o ad acquisire consapevolezza delle proprie capacità di apprendimento onde poterle migliorare.
The course intends to deepen the knowledge of the relationship between political power and freedom of religion in late imperial China as well as in the contemporary period.
This furthered knowledge shall give students the ability to critically analise the state of respect (or of lack of it) of the human rights in different historical and political background.
The seminar lessons will enable the students to verify their communication abilities, helping each one of them to reach the awareness of her/his learning abilities level, in order to improve them.

Risultati dell'apprendimento attesi
Al termine del corso gli studenti avranno acquisito familiarità e appreso ad analizzare in modo critico:
- la definizione di diritti umani e la molteplicità delle letture che di essi viene data in ambito sinico;
- la storia della presenza cristiana in epoca Qing, in particolar modo dei gesuiti alla Corte imperiale;
- la politica contemporanea del mondo sinico nei confronti della libertà di religione.
Riusciranno così a valutare con maggiore spirito critico la questione della democratizzazione e del godimento dei diritti politici e civili, oltre che economici e culturali.
Le attività svolte con modalità seminariale a gruppi consentiranno di migliorare le capacità di interazione, sollecitando anche ciascuna/o studente a diventare consapevoli delle proprie qualità in ambito espositivo, tendendo a migliorarle in una dinamica peer to peer.
At the end of the course, students are expected to have learnt to analize and understand:
- the definition of human rights and their various interpretations in the sinic world;
- the history of Christians during the Qing dynasty, especially of the Jesuits at the imperial Court;
- the contemporary Chinese policy on the right of freedom of religion.
As a consequence, they would have the capacity to critically analyze the questions related with the democratization process and the entitlement of civil and political rights, in addition to economical and cultural rights.
Moreover, active participation to the workshops would give students a better capacity in teamworking, and they would improve their capacity to express themselves through the peer to peer interaction.

Modalità di insegnamento
Il corso è strutturato in 36 ore, durante le quali si alterneranno didattica frontale e attività seminariali. Alle/agli studenti è chiesta una partecipazione interattiva, anche con l’esposizione di fronte ai colleghi dell'analisi critica di articoli forniti dalla docente, perciò la presenza in aula è fortemente consigliata.
L’insegnamento si svolge in presenza, e non prevede registrazione delle lezioni.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
Per gli studenti che hanno come prima lingua cinese, o che provengono da altri corsi di laurea, è previsto un esame orale sui contenuti esposti durante le lezioni e nei testi indicati nella bibliografia.
Per gli studenti che hanno come prima lingua giapponese, la prova d'esame consisterà in un colloquio di verifica dell'apprendimento e della comprensione dei contenuti dei testi indicati nella bibliografia.
Per gli studenti che provengono da altri corsi di laurea è previsto un esame orale sui contenuti esposti durante le lezioni e nei testi indicati nella bibliografia, o nella bilbiografia concordata.
The exam will be an oral examination on the contents of the lessons and of the works in bibliography.
The students on Chinese language, or of other degree courses, will be evaluated on the contents of the lessons and of the bibliography.
For the students on Japanese language, their exam will be an oral one to ascertain that they have acquired and understood the content of the works in bibliography.
The students of other degree courses (not majoring in Chinese or Japanese language) may arrange with the teacher a special programme.

L'insegnamento verterà sulla analisi del diritto alla libertà di culto in Cina, mettendo a confronto il suo esercizio durante la dinastia Qing (focus sulla presenza di cristiani nel XVIII secolo) e durante gli ultimi 70 anni (focus sul XXI secolo).
The course will be devoted to a critical analysis of the right to freedom of religion in China. The analysis will compare the practice of this right during the Qing dynasty (mainly throughout the Christians during the XVIIIthcentury) and during the last 70 years (mainly the XXIth century).
