The course discusses the interrelated themes of English language, identity and power in the world, and their textual/ditigal manifestations, with particular reference to the Anglophone contexts of Asia and Africa, and aims to enable students to identify the main varieties of English reflecting on both linguistic and stylistic aspects as well as the implications concerning aspects such as identity, power, discourse, gender, ethnicity. The expected level of competence at the end of the entire course (Module 1 + Module 2) is C2 (CEFR) with regard to both receptive and productive skills.
